Local A/Ls: Minimum of 3 "S" Passes in any subject stream or equivalent qualification in the same sitting and General English "S" Pass or equivalent qualification.
Cambridge/Edexcel: Minimum of 3 "D" Passes in any subject stream Pass Aptitude Test conducted by SLIIT, and the Interview conducted by the School of Psychology, SLIIT.
The BSc (Hons) in Psychology is a Ministry of Education-approved and UGC-recognized four-year degree program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the mind and behavior within Sri Lanka's unique cultural context. This program offers an in-depth study of human development, cognition, emotion, social behavior, and mental health, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to society.
With a strong emphasis on practical application and cultural relevance, the program prepares graduates to address the growing mental health needs in Sri Lanka and beyond. Students are trained to apply psychological principles in diverse real-world settings and are encouraged to pursue specialized postgraduate studies or careers in fields such as education, counseling, research, special education, and other psychology-related disciplines. Additionally, graduates develop valuable transferable skills—including critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication—which enable them to excel in various industries. This makes the BSc (Hons) in Psychology a versatile and rewarding foundation for careers both within psychology and in interdisciplinary fields.
COURSE FEE
The fee is presently Rs. 340,000 per semester. Fees for any subsequent semester should be paid prior to the commencement of each semester. This all inclusive fee is charged to cover lectures, tutorials and examinations and access to computer laboratory facilities and library.
The fees should be credited to, Account No 1630552 of the Bank of Ceylon in favour of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, at the Bank of Ceylon Kollupitiya Branch located at the first floor of the BoC Merchant Tower Building or at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon; or to Account No 00 399 0000033 of the Sampath Bank at any branch of Sampath Bank. Normally, fees paid will not be refunded. However, requests for refund of fees may be considered if made before expiry of one week from the date of commencement of lectures for each semester. The date of commencement of lectures for the new applicants will be the date of commencement of lectures of the Orientation Programme. The refund, if made will be subject to a deduction of ten percent of the fee paid.
