Requirements:

The minimum qualifications required for admission on the standard route are:

A. GCE Advanced Level

  1. Sri Lankan: 3 passes or
  2. London, Cambridge or Edexcel : 3 D passes or
  3. Any combination totalling to 12 points from the following tariff scheme:

Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology Degree Foundation


And


B.GCE/GCSE Ordinary Level – Credit Passes (Grade 4) for English and Mathematics


Or


C. Equivalent qualifications


The minimum qualifications required for admission on the accelerated route are:


– GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lankan, London, Cambridge or Edexcel) – 3 C passes and

– GCE/GCSE Ordinary Level – Credit Passes (Grade 4) for English and Mathematics


You may apply pending A/L results. Applicants with additional qualifications may receive advanced entry.


Description:

Specialise in the latest technologies from the leading providers of Cloud Services globally such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft in order to make yourself ultra-employable and well versed in current standards.


Staffordshire University is a member of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy programme and we have embedded the AWS Certified Solutions Architect knowledge within our course.


Throughout your degree, you will have the opportunity to learn a wide variety of transferable skills. These skills will be useful in Cloud Computing or any other career you may choose to pursue. Skills gained will include project management, independent working, team working and advanced computer literacy.


On successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Cloud Technologies), students will be awarded with a Staffordshire University degree


Teaching & Learning

Networking Concepts and Cyber Security


  • Design and development of commercial network infrastructure (CCNA: Routing and Switching)
  • Introduction to basic cyber security principles


Web Development and Operating Systems


  • Basic website design & development using java script & HTML
  • Introduction to Linux operating system & bash scripting


Year 2


Commercial Computing


  • Professional & study skills & research methods
  • Introduction to project management using agile methods


Databases and Data Structures


  • Introduction to database design & development
  • Introduction to algorithms & data structures


Routed and Switched Architectures


  • Implementing Cisco routing for large scale networks (CCNP: Routing and Switching 1)
  • Advanced switching using Cisco technologies and devices (CCNP: Routing and Switching 2)


Enterprise Cloud and Infrastructure Automation


  • Enterprise cloud infrastructure design & development
  • Evaluation & selection of automation techniques for enterprise infrastructure


Year 3


Industry Placement up to 1 Year


At the end of the second year you may opt for an internship/ placement to gain industry exposure.


Year 4


Emerging Technologies


  • Research methods
  • Introduction to cutting-edge technologies


Final Year Project


  • Design and modeling of a solution for a real-world problem
  • Development and evaluation of a solution for a real-world problem


Cloud, Virtualization and Communications


  • Exposure to cutting-edge cloud and networking technologies
  • Selection & deployment of state-of-the-art technologies on enterprise network infrastructure


Developing for the Cloud


  • Advanced cloud infrastructure including fault tolerance and security
  • Development of cloud based software using micro Services


Career Opportunities


Cloud Technologies graduates will find that there are many career opportunities available. You might choose to work for a business as a Consultant to help manage cloud storage or for a cloud provider. Alternatively, you could be self-employed and go into business to provide education and information around cloud computing.
